SUBJECT: Petition for Bargaining Unit Amendment - Operating Engineer's Union
Personnel Manager Randy Peck is recommending City Council approval of the
Operating Engineer's Union petition to amend their bargaining unit to exclude certain
classifications.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Bargaining Unit as Amended. I have reviewed the stipulation and recommend that we agree to
the amended unit as described in the stipulation. The requested action is for the City Council to
approve a motion authorizing you to sign the Stipulation of Bargaining Unit as Amended.

STIPULATION OF BARGAINING UNIT AS AMENDED
Pursuant to a Petition for Amendment of Bargaining Unit filed under the Public Employment
Relations Act, and subject to the approval of the Public Employment Relations Board, the undersigned
parties agree that the following constitutes an appropriate unit for the purposes of collective bargaining
within the meaning of Section 13 of the Public Employment Relations Act:
INCLUDED: Water Pollution Control Department and Water Department: Plant Mechanic, Electronic
Technician, Maintenance Electrician, Equipment Mechanic, Equipment Operator II, Plant Operator (certified and
non-certified), Assistant Plant Operator, Water Meter Repairworker I, Water Meter Repairworker II,
Maintenanceworker, Truck Driver, Laborer. Parking Division: Parking Meter Checker, Ramp Cashier, Head Ramp
Cashier. Building Services Department: Inspector I, Custodian I and Custodian II. Finance Department: Water
Meter Serviceworker I, Water Meter Serviceworker II, Senior Cashier, Cashier, Clerk. Housing and Community
Development Department: Inspector 1. Emergency Communications Department: Public Safety Dispatcher.
EXCLUDED: All employees not represented by a bargaining unit and all supervisory, confidential,
temporary, seasonal and limited term employees and all other employees excluded by Section 20.4 of the Public
Employment Relations Act.
