Minutes_Cable Teleprogramming Commission 9 6 11MINUTES OF CABLE COMMUNITY TELEPROGRAMMING COMMISSION MEETING September 6, 2011 CITY HALL ANNEX — 2nd FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM #2 MEMBERS PRESENT: Pauline Maloney, Sr. Carol Hoverman, George Herrig, Alan Vincent. MEMBERS ABSENT: Jennifer Tigges. Two seats are vacant on the Commission. OTHERS PRESENT: Jim Barefoot, Mediacom Craig Nowack, City of Dubuque Mr. Vincent called the meeting to order at 4:04 p.m. Acceptance of the Agenda Upon a motion by Mr. Herrig, seconded by Ms. Approval of the Minutes of the July 5, 2011, Upon a motion by Sr. Hoverman, seconded by were approved 4 — 0. Public Notice There was no public input. Maloney, the agenda was accepted 4 - 0. Meeting Ms. Maloney, the Minutes of the July 5, 2011, meeting Access Equipment & Expenditures Mr. Nowack presented a request for funding for two 60 TB storage servers to replace the aging and nearly full 30 TB storage server that went into service in 2007. The two servers would provide additional space and offsite back -up capabilities at Tess cost than the single server being replaced. Mr. Herrig moved to approve up to $37,500 for the request. The motion was seconded by Sr. Hoverman and approved 4 - 0. Mr. Barefoot presented a request for a Panasonic turn -key production studio package to replace equipment in the public access studio at Mediacom. Besides the normal wear and tear of nearly six years in the studio, the existing equipment has also been used in field production. Mr. Herrig moved to approve up to $23,500 for the request. The motion was seconded by Sr. Hoverman and approved 4 -0. Mediacom Cable Report Mr. Barefoot reported that his assistant, Tyler Breitbach, is leaving to take a job at a local media production company. He also provided an update on his efforts in working with Mr. Nowack and Mercy Hospital to improve the quality of the daily Mercy Mass telecasts and provided an update on public access productions at Mediacom. Cable TV Report Mr. Nowack informed the Commission that the grant- funded LED lights arrived last week and will get their first use at the opening reception for Art on the River next week. Soon they will begin measuring the lights in order to purchase cases in which to carry them. He then provided an update on the productions in progress and upcoming timeline for program premieres.
