CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA
MEMORANDUM
November 1, 2000
TO: Michael C. Van Milligen, City Manager
Michael A. Koch, Public Works Director 1#",,1I1d
FROM:
SUBJECT: Vacating of Allison Place
INTRODUCTION
The following is supplementary information regarding the October 26, 2000 letter
from Finley Hospital regarding their exercising of the option to purchase vacated
Allison Place.
DISCUSSION
On February 15, 1999 Allison Street was vacated by the City Council with the
intent to sell the property to Finley Hospital for future development.
The agreement for the purchase of the property was for Finley to pay a non-
refundable initial payment of $5,000.00 at the time of vacating, with an option to
purchase the property. for a total purchase price of $28,945.00.
The agreement required Finley Hospital to submit the option to purchase before
February 15, 2001, and allowed the initial deposit to be credited against the
purchase price, for a net payment of $23,945.00.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
Finley Hospital has submitted their offer to purchase dated October 26, 2000 and
has paid the required $23,945.00 to the City. In turn, the City Clerk issued a Quit
Claim deed to Finley Hospital as previously authorized by City Council action
associated with the vacating process in 1999.
This concludes this matter as far as both parties are concerned.
