RESOLUTION NO. 558-00
RESOLUTION APPROVING ACQUISITION PLAT FOR WIDENING OF JOHN
F. KENNEDY ROAD
Whereas, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of Dubuque,
Iowa, a plat dated October 26, 2000, prepared by the City of Dubuque, describing the
proposed acquisition of John F. Kennedy Road; and
Whereas, said plat conforms to the laws and statutes pertaining thereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the plat dated October 26, 2000, prepared by the City of
Dubuque, relative to the real estate hereinabove described be and the same is hereby
approved, and the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed
to execute said plat and on behalf of the City of Dubuque, Iowa.
Section 2. That the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed to file
said plat and certified copy of this resolution in the office of the Recorder, in and for
Dubuque County, Iowa.

SUBJECT: John F. Kennedy Road - Acquisition Plat Approval
INTRODUCTION
Enclosed is a resolution approving an acquisition plat for a right-of-way on
John F. Kennedy Road on land owned by the City of Dubuque.
DISCUSSION
John F. Kennedy Road is proposed to be widened in 2002 in conjunction
with Phase 4 of the construction of the Northwest Arterial. The roadway is
proposed to be widened from 24 feet to 40 feet and shifted slightly to the
southwest. The existing right-of-way in the area of this acquisition is 66
feet.
Lot 1 of 3 of 1 of Helen E. and Mary H. Stewart Subdivision is owned by the
City of Dubuque. This land was purchased for a proposed water tower
scheduled to be constructed in 2004. The right-of-way will encompass a
strip of land off the northeasterly side of the parcel varying in width from 11
feet to 16 feet. A temporary easement for grading is also required as shown
on the plat.
Other acquisitions will be required prior to construction the project.
RECOMMENDA TION
The above property has already been surveyed and platted by the City, in
accordance with design plans for John F. Kennedy Road. I would
recommend adoption of the enclosed resolution approving the plat.

The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolution approving the
Acquisition Plat of part of Lot of 1 of 3 of 1 of Helen E. and Mary H. Stewart
Subdivision.
