City Engineer Gus Psihoyos is recommending acceptance of the construction contract
for the 2011 Drain Tile Project, as completed by Connolly Construction, Inc., in the final
contract amount of $16,865.64, which Is a 25.8% increase from the original contract
amount of $13,411.35. This increase was due primarily to additional connections and
stone.
The 2011 Drain Tile Project provided for the installation of 600 lineal feet of drain tile to
direct storm water and sump pump discharge to stormwater intakes at Hilton Springs
Drive and Key Way Drive.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

INTRODUCTION
The enclosed resolution provides for the acceptance of the construction contract for the
2011 Drain Tile Project
BACKGROUND
The 2011 Drain Tile Project provided for the installation of 600 lineal feet of drain tile to
direct storm water and sump pump discharge to stormwater intakes at Hilton Springs
Drive and Key Way Drive
DISCUSSION
The 2011 Drain Tile Project was completed by Connolly Construction, Inc of Peosta,
Iowa, in the final contract amount of $16,865 64, which is a 25 8% increase from the
original contract amount of $13,411 35 The increase was due primarily to additional
connections and stone
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize the payment
of the contract amount of $16,865 64 to Connolly Construction, Inc for the 2011 Drain
Tile Project
BUDGET IMPACT
The project cost summary for the 2011 Drain Tile Project is as follows

Construction, Inc. for the 2011 Drain Tile Project.

RESOLUTION NO. 392 -11
ACCEPTING THE 2011 DRAIN TILE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT
OF THE CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE CONTRACTOR
Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the 2011 Drain Tile Project (the
Project) has been completed and the City Engineer has examined the work and filed a
certificate stating that the Project has been completed according to the terms of the
Public Improvement Contract and that the City Engineer recommends that the Project
be accepted; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The recommendation of the City Engineer is approved and the Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The Finance Director is hereby directed to pay to the Contractor from
the Drain Tile Program appropriation for the contract amount of $16,865.64 Tess any
retained percentage provided for therein as provided in Iowa Code chapter 573, and to
pay such retainage only in accordance with the provisions of Iowa Code chapter 573.
