Proclamation Public Service Employees.doc WHEREAS, 260 million Americans are served every day by public service employees providing a wide range of services; and WHEREAS, through dedication, cooperation, and hard work, public service employees significantly improve the quality of life for the citizens which they serve; and WHEREAS, many public employees — police officers, firefighters, border patrol officers, embassy employees, military personnel, health care professionals, and others often risk their lives in their dedication to duty, and WHEREAS, public employees include many job descriptions such as office staff, teachers, nurses, inspectors, laborers and all others who work hard to provide the diverse services demanded by citizens of their government; and WHEREAS, public service employees in Dubuque are composed of many individuals respected for their ability, professionalism, and commitment to doing the best job possible. NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 2-8, 2005 AS: ”PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK” IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND ENCOURAGE ALL CITIZENS TO RECOGNIZE THE CONTRIBUTION OF PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYEES.
