Van Milligen City Manager FROM: Randy Peck rJD Personnel Manager ~-<{ SUBJECT: Petition for Bargaining Unit Amendment - Operating Engineers Union On April 4, 2005, the City Council approved a Stipulation of Bargaining Unit as Amended, which excluded the following classifications from the Operating Engineers Bargaining Unit: Department Number of Emplovees Affected Finance: Account Clerk I Water Meter Inspector 4 1 Public Works: Account Clerk I Account Clerk II o 1 Police: Clerk Typist 4 Building Services: Clerk Typist o Housing and Community Development: Clerk Typist 0 Health Services: Milk Sanitarian 0 Water Pollution Control: Laboratory Technician I 1 Dan Sommers, President of the Operating Engineers Union, has informed me that the Union would like to modify the Stipulation to include the classification of Account Clerk I. In addition and at the suggestion of the attorney for the Public Employment Relations Board, we have modified the language of the Stipulation related to exclusions. The language change clarifies who is excluded but does not change the classifications that are excluded. I have reviewed the Stipulation and recommend that we agree to the amended unit as described in the Stipulation. The requested action is for the City Council to approve a motion authorizing you to sign the Stipulation of Bargaining Unit as Amended. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
