Leisure Services Manage~ SUBJECT: Five Flags Bleacher Replacement Project INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend that the City Council award a contract to Iowa Direct Equipment and Appraisal, L.C. for replacement of the bleachers at the Five Flags Center. DISCUSSION On April 21,2005 bids were received for replacement of the bleachers at the Five Flags Center. This project is part of the overall Five Flags Renovation Project but was bid separately to save money and to allow the City to work directly with the seating company. This project provides for replacement of all the original wood bleacher with plastic bleachers with backrests to provide for more comfortable seating. WHEREAS, notice of hearing on plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated cost was published as required by law. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: That the said plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost are hereby approved as the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for said improvements for said project. WHEREAS, said sealed proposals were opened and read on the 21 st day of April 2005, and it has been determined that the bid of IOWA DIRECT EQUIPMENT AND APPRAISAL, L.C. in the amount of $354,950 was the lowest bid for the furnishings of all labor and materials and performing the work as provided for in the plans and specifications. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: That the contract for the above improvement be awarded to IOWA DIRECT EQUIPMENT AND APPRAISAL, L.C., and the Manager be and is hereby directed to execute a contract on behalf of the City of Dubuque for the complete performance of the work. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That upon the signing of said contract and the approval of the contractor's bond, the City Treasurer is authorized and instructed to return the bid deposits of the unsuccessful bidders. Spence, Leisure Services Manager SUBJECT: Five Flags Bleacher Replacement Project INTRODUCTION The purpose of this memorandum is to request that the City Council initiate the bidding process for the Five Flags Bleacher Replacement Project. DISCUSSION This project provides for replacement of all the wood bleachers in the Five Flags Center with bleachers with padded seats and backs. Having padded seats and backs will make bleacher seat tickets an easier sell because they will be much more comfortable. Bleacher replacement is a part of that total budget. The engineer estimates the cost of the bleacher replacement to be $516,628.
