SUBJECT: Cabela's / America's River Corporation Banner Request
Assistant City Manager Cindy Steinhauser is recommending approval of a request from
the America's River Corporation and Cabela's to erect banners in the Port of Dubuque.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: Cabela's / America's River Corporation Banner Request
Introduction
The purpose of this memorandum is to request City Council approval of banners to be
located on Bell Street at the Port of Dubuque.
Discussion
I have received a request from Cabela's / America's River Corporation regarding the
installation of 38 banners on light poles as part of the America's River Festival
scheduled from May 27-29,2005. Attached is the design of each banner. The Cabela's
banner will be in place until June 1, 2005 and will be removed after the Cabela's fishing
tournament is over. The America's River Corporation banner will be up year round as a
location identifier for the Port of Dubuque. The proposed size of the banner is 18" wide
by 2' in height. City engineering staff has approved the bracket to be used on the
historic light poles. No banners will be hung on intersection lights.
While the city ordinance provides for the City Manager to approve the installation of
banners, the City Council had previously requested that they review all future banner
requests. City staff has reviewed this request and is recommending approval.
Request
The requested action is for City Council to approve the request of Cabela's / America's
River Corporation to install banners on public right of way.
