was diverted into her garage and basement by a large pile of snow
left in the street by a snow plow.

This is a claim for damages to the window of the claimant's
parked car, which he alleges it might have sustained either as a
result of debris thrown up by a City snow plow or as a result of
vandalism.
The Legal Department has investigated the claim, and in the
absence of any firm evidence indicating that the City was at fault,
it is the recommendation of the Legal Department that the claim be
denied.

This is a claim for damages to the claimants' mailbox post,
which was allegedly broken off by heavy snow thrown on it by a City
plow. According to the report of John Klostermann, Street\Sewer
Maintenance Supervisor, this claim is correct as filed and he
recommends payment.
It is therefore the recommendation of the Legal Department
that this claim, in the amount of $20 be paid by the Finance
Director and submitted to ICAP for reimbursement.

Dear Carol:
The purpose of this letter is to respond to the claim filed by Mrs. Kemp on January 20, 1999.
Mrs. Kemp is claiming damage to her mailbox due to snow, which was plowed back into the
yard during the snow plowing operation. I did not inspect the damaged mailbox, but Mrs. Kemp
did call to report the damage. Based on the damage Mrs. Kemp described, and the amount of
snowfall we received that weekend, it is possible for this type of damage to occur.
It is my recommendation to pay the claim filed by Mrs. Kemp.
