Anderson - Bricker, Diann Guns, and Frederick Miller

• 42 percent of the fiscal year has lapsed; expenditures are about 44 percent
• The most noticeable growth in check -outs has been in the non -print areas: DVDs,
e -Books (increase of 5 times over previous year), and 10 of 14 databases have
realized increased use. Sony e- Readers have been introduced for circulation and
have already become quite popular.
• The vendor and manufacturer of the "lending library" vending machine installed
at Hy -Vee, Asbury Plaza, visited over two days to work on the equipment. It has
been working ever since.
• Tricon Construction Group responded to a letter sent by the City Manager
regarding outstanding issues left from the renovation. This includes the entrance
plaza area to which the punchlist was never addressed, the shade installed in the
skylight in the auditorium which has worked about six months out of 26, and
numerous quality - related issues. Library board members and director are
continuing to meet with Engineering staff and Barry Lindahl.
• The performance period for LEED certification ended November 15, 2011.
Submissions applying for certification will take place up until February 15, 2012.
• After further discussion regarding the Heade painting, it was agreed to store it at
the warehouse of the Debra Fine art gallery in New York where the painting has
been offered for sale. Details will be confirmed in a new contract.
• The Internet policy was updated to reflect current practice; however, it was tabled
for discussion at a future meeting.
