Legion Award to City ~ i Ilubuque ~05t 1ao. 6 I: 1306 DELHI STREET DUBUQUE, IOWA 52001 Phone 563/583-0306 May 3, 2005 Armed Forces Day Banquet -Employer of the Year Dubuque American Legion Post 6 is proud to announce the Employer of the Year for the 8th Annual Armed Forces Day Banquet. The City of Dubuque is being recognized for support of City employees activated and deployed in Guard and Reserve Units. The selection committee, representing 1,100 Dubuque American Post 6 members, had several good candidates for this employer award. City of Dubuque matched best against our selection criteria. The event honors all members of our Dubuque based military units. These include Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Iowa National Guard and U.S. Coast Guard.. Members of these units deserve to be honored. Many have been deployed in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to support Homeland Security. We will honor a 'Person Of The Year' from each of the four local military units. An 'Employer Of The Year' award will be presented for the support of military personnel. Awards will also be presented to Post 6 American Legion members who have 50 and 60 years of membership. Our featured speaker is Ted Sprouse. vv'ho is a Korean '?Var veteran. Ted was held prisoner of war for 33 months. Ted has written a book about his war experiences and is a very good speaker. The banquet will be held on Armed Forces Day, Saturday May 21st 2005, at 7:00PM in the American Legion clubrooms located at 1306 Delhi Street in Dubuque, Iowa. A social time is planned between 6:00 -7:00 PM. Our program will follow the banquet. Complimentary tickets will be reserved at the for Mayor Terrance M. Duggan and guest, City Manager Michael C.
