Van Milligen, City Manager SUBJECT: Smarter Travel Recruitment Budget DATE: January 10, 2012 Dubuque knerd All-America City hill! 2007 Over the last two weeks, East Central Intergovernmental Association, the Jule, Greater Dubuque Development Corporation and City staff have met several times to create a recruitment plan to recruit 1,000 volunteers for the Smarter Travel Pilot Project. In order to satisfy the needs of the $1.6 million ICAAP application submitted by ECIA for this project, 1,000 volunteers will need to be recruited by July 1. A recruitment plan was created in an effort to secure 1,000 volunteers. Recruitment efforts will focus on the following strategies: 1. Presentations to local colleges and businesses 2. Presentations to existing community groups (service organizations, etc.) 3. Tabling and promotions at local events (hockey games, expos) 4. Tabling and giveaways at HyVee 5. partnering with US Cellular representatives, offering incentives for them to install Smarter Travel app on new smart phones 6. Bus wraps on two Jule buses These events will be staffed by the East Central Intergovernmental Association, Greater Dubuque Development Corporation and City staff. The recruitment plan carries a cost of $25,140 and funds have been identified to finance the recruitment. Sustainable Community Coordinator Cori Burbach recommends City Council approval of the recruitment plan and budget.
