1 30 12 Automated Traffic Enforcement_Most Accident Prone IntersectionsDubuque's Most Accident -Prone Intersections By Corporal Travis Kramer, Dubuque Police Department Objectives: This report will identify the ten most accident -prone intersections within the City of Dubuque in 2010 (the most recent data available) and review historical trends for help in determining the most effective locations for photo enforcement of traffic signals. Source: Data and software (Crash Mapping Analysis Tool) provided by the Iowa Department of Transportation were used to meet the objective. Incidents: This report reviewed all traffic accidents reported to the Iowa DOT in 2010 regardless of severity. Incidents reported to have happened within a radius of 100 feet were included in the totals for the respective intersections in order to include intersection related collisions that did not take place within the limits of the intersection itself. Results: A total of eleven intersections are listed due to a six way tie in 2010. Also included are results from past reviews: "Top 10 in 2009," "Top 10 in 2008," and "The Dirty Dozen 2003 - 2007 ". Years are listed in reverse chronological order due to the fact that the city has taken steps to address high accident rates, such as reconfiguration of traffic lanes and traffic lights, so older data is less valuable. 2010 There were a total of 1432 reported traffic accidents within the City of Dubuque in 2010.
