WHEREAS, Dubuque Main Street, Ltd., has been dedicated to the development,
redevelopment, and ongoing support of a vibrant downtown since
June 24, 1985; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Main Street, Ltd., currently serves seven Downtown
districts, including Cable Car Square, Ice Harbor, Old Main, Town
Clock Plaza, Upper Main/Farmers' Market, Jackson Park, and Couler;
and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Main Street, Ltd., works as a partnership between the
public and private sectors to systematically bring about business
growth and a spirit of vitality to the city center; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Main Street Ltd., provides significant value to the citizens
of Dubuque by managing, and administering downtown efforts such
as the Farmer's Market and the Town Clock Plaza, with such
community events as Dubuque …And All That Jazz, Historic Old
Main Event, Cable Car Square Chili Cook-Off, Discover Downtown
Dubuque Days, Puttzin' Around Downtown, Farmers' Market, and
others; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Main Street, Ltd., is celebrating 20 years of operation as the
longest continuously operated urban "Main Street Program" in the
United States.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF JUNE:
"DUBUQUE MAIN STREET, LTD. MONTH"
AND URGE THE PEOPLE OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, TO JOIN WITH US IN
RECOGNIZING THE 20th ANNIVERSARY OF DUBUQUE MAIN STREET, LTD., AND
THE IMPORTANCE IT SERVES TO OUR COMMUNITY.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
