SUBJECT: Petition for Bargaining Unit Amendment - Operating Engineers Union
Personnel Manager Randy Peck is recommending City Council approval of a Stipulation
of Bargaining Unit as Amended, which excludes the classification of Laboratory
Technician I from the Operating Engineers Bargaining Unit.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

On May 2, 2005, the City Council approved a Stipulation of Bargaining Unit as Amended, which

Dan Sommers, President of the Operating Engineers Union, has informed me that the Union would
like to modify the Stipulation to include the classification of Laboratory Technician I. I have
reviewed the Stipulation and recommend that we agree to the amended unit as described in the
Stipulation. The requested action is for the City Council to approve a motion authorizing you to sign
the Stipulation of Bargaining Unit as Amended.
