It has been my pleasure to serve on the Long Range Planning
Commission of the City of Dubuque for the initial five three-
year terms since its inception in July 1990. During that period
we have accomplished much together, including the creation and
monitoring of our community's first council adopted comprehensive
plan since 1936, and also a master plan for our most precious
neighborhoods - our downtown and riverfront, both based on highly
inclusive community visioning. We worked to create a joint cityl
county fringe area development policy. We executed numerous
other planning initiatives over the years.
After fifteen years on the commission, including three terms as
chairman, I feel that it is time to step aside and allow new
leadership to emerge in fue ongoing mission of planning for our
community's future. Therefore, I am not applying for reappoint-
ment to the commission at the end of my current and final term.
Thank you for all the support and commitment you have given to
city planning initiatives. I know that you will maintain your
focus on planning in the future to ensure that our community
continues to evolve as a most special place to live, work,
and play.
