Recently the Civil Service classification of Landfill Equipment Operator was created in
the Public Works department. Equipment Operator 11 John Gillen, who works at the
Dubuque Metropolitan Solid Waste Agency, has requested to have his position re- titled
as a Landfill Equipment Operator. The Landfill Equipment Operator position is
compensated at the same rate as Equipment Operator 11.
Personnel Manager Randy Peck recommends City Council approval to eliminate one
Equipment Operator 11 position in the Public Works department and create one
additional Landfill Equipment Operator position.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Public Works department. Equipment Operator 11 John Gillen, who works at the

as a Landfill Equipment Operator. The Landfill Equipment Operator position is

In order to implement the recommendation I request that the City Council approve a
motion eliminating one Equipment Operator 11 position in the Public Works department
and creating one additional Landfill Equipment Operator position.
