Dear Senator Grassley:
Iowa Highway 32 (Southwest Arterial) continues to be the number one transportation
priority of the City of Dubuque, Dubuque County, the Greater Dubuque Development
Corporation, and the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce. We have discussed this
project and asked for your support over the past years. Thank you for your willingness
to work with us on the financing of the project. Your staff (Sherry Kuntz) has been very
helpful in guiding us through the process.
We continue to move this project forward. The Environmental Assessment process has
been completed. The City, in cooperation with lOOT has contracted for the preliminary
design of the highway.
The new transportation reauthorization bill (TEA-LU), recently passed authorizes
$19,000,000 for this project.
The transportation reauthorization legislation is now on its way to conference
