Dear Mayor Buol:
The Dubuque County Historical Society and the National Mississippi River Museum &
Aquarium is pleased to enthusiastically partner with and support the Dubuque Convention and
Visitors Bureau. Our relationship provides a tremendous opportunity to continue to draw visitors
to the Museum and to Dubuque. Keith Rahe and his staff have been constant supporters of ours
and are a knowledgeable resource upon which we can rely.
As our partner, the Dubuque CVB assists all of Dubuque's outstanding tourist attractions, hotels,
and meeting facilities through coordinated efforts, sharing of data, and market analysis. The
America's River Festival, Dubuque's signature event, continues to heighten awareness and
shines an early summer spotlight on the Port of Dubuque.
We believe that the innovative opportunities created by a strong CVB and their relationships
with the organizations they support are vital pieces to continue to ensure that Dubuque is Iowa's
top destination for tourism.
Sincerely,

RE: Convention and Visitor's Bureau - FY13 Operaa ing Budget
DATE: February 29, 2012
As you begin the arduous process of reviewing departmental budgets, assessing and weighing
each proposed operating budget within the context of the "big picture ", and making funding
decisions accordingly - may I sincerely just say "thank you" for your service to the Community
and tackling this particular task, especially in Tight of the current available funding.
As a member of Dubuque CVB Advisory Board for the past five years, I have served with some
of you who have also served the Board in your positions as City Council members. We're both
familiar with the excellent staff of the CVB, the product they produce, and the successes they
have achieved on behalf of the City's tourism endeavors. Dubuque is on the map!
In conjunction with other members of the Advisory Board, I have also reviewed and approved
the proposed FY13 Operating Budget presented for your consideration. This past year, Molly
Grover, President and CEO, Dubuque Chamber of Commerce, has made responsible and
effective resource changes reorganizing staff in order to maximize and redirect available
funding towards destination marketing and promotion. She, along with Keith Rahe President of
our Chamber's CVB, has presented a lean budget which proposes to achieve the same
successes we have come to expect of our Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
Please support the proposed budget as presented, and again thank you for your commitment
to our Community.

Dear Mayor Buol and Members of the City Council,
I currently serve as the Chair of the CO Advisory Board and as the 2nd Vice Chair of the Dubuque Area
Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. It is with great confidence that i encourage you to support and
approve the 2012 -2013 CVB budget. This budget Is a fiscally responsible and aggressive platform that
utilizes the CVB portion of the hotel /motel tax to its maximum benefit resulting in $275 million dollar
return on Investment.
The Chamber and the Convention and Visitors Bureau are a dynamic partnership that sets that stage for
our success. As Iowa's only 5 Star Chamber, the tourism division of our organization provides continued
fulfillment of our mission to ensure the Dubuque area is the best place to live, work, play, visit and do
business. The marketing and promotion of Dubuque as a destination for business and leisure travel has
a proven track record of success with record setting occupancy, visitors and visitor expenditures.
My business benefits from the support I receive from the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce and
Tourism and the exceptional professionalism in convention and visitor expertise that the CVB provides. I
strongly enco rage you to support the CVB budget for the 2012 -2013 fiscal year.
