PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque, Iowa, is a Community that strives to fulfill all
Five Promises to youth (Caring Adults, Safe Places, Healthy Starts,
Marketable Skills and Opportunities to Serve), and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque unites around youth and youth issues, and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque works to create a place where kids today grow
up well prepared for tomorrow, and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque coordinates with multiple organizations to
ensure kids have access to all Five Promises, and
WHEREAS, Iowa Governor Vilsack has declared Iowa as a "State of Promise",
and
WHEREAS, Mississippi Valley Promise is established in Dubuque to connect all
segments of the community including local government to deliver
the Five Promises to the children of Dubuque,
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AS A
"CITY OF PROMISE"
AND URGE SUPPORT AND RECOGNITION OF THIS UNIQUE AID TO OUR
COMMUNITIES' YOUTH!
IN WITNESS THEREOF. HAVE
HEREUNTO SET MY HAND AND
CAUSED THE GREAT SEAL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA TO BE
AFFIXED THIS 18th DAY OF JULY 2005.
