WHEREAS, Dubuque County Early Childhood (formerly Empowerment), the
Dubuque Association for the Education of Young Children, and other
local organizations are celebrating April 2012 as the Month of the
Young Child and April 22 -28, 2011, as the Week of the Young Child
with the theme "Early Years are Learning Years;" and
WHEREAS, these organizations are working to improve early learning
opportunities, including health and education programs, that can
provide a foundation of learning for children in Dubuque, Iowa; and
WHEREAS, teachers, child care providers, and other persons who make a
difference in the lives of young children in Dubuque deserve thanks
and recognition; and
WHEREAS, public policies that support early learning for young children are
crucial to the futures of all young children.
NOW THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM APRIL 2012 AS THE MONTH OF THE YOUNG CHILD AND
APRIL 22 -28, 2012, AS
"THE WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND ENCOURAGE ALL CITIZENS TO WORK
ON MAKING A GOOD INVESTMENT IN EARLY CHILDHOOD.
