SUBJECT: 2005 Curb Ramp Installation - CDBG Project #1
(CIP 2601236: ADA Curb Ramp Construction Project)
City Engineer Gus Psihoyos is recommending acceptance of the 2005 Curb Ramp
Installation - CDBG Project #1 , as completed by Perry Construction, in the final contract
amount of $18,020.55, which is a 16.1 % decrease from the original contract amount of
$20,926.00. This decrease was due to the elimination of two curb ramps that were
constructed in conjunction with other projects.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

INTRODUCTION
The enclosed resolutions provide for the acceptance of the 2005 Curb Ramp Installation
- CDBG Project #1.
BACKGROUND
This project included 34 ramps in the downtown area of Elm Street to Central Avenue
and 11th Streetto 14th Street.
DISCUSSION
The 2005 Curb Ramp Installation - CDBG Project #1 has been completed by Perry
Construction of Dubuque, Iowa, in the amount of $18,020.55, which is a 16.1%
decrease from the original contract amount of $20,926.00. The project was decreased
in size by the elimination of two curb ramps that were constructed in conjunction with
other projects. The bid quantities were also reduced from its original estimated amount
due to actual field quantities.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the City Council accept the improvements and establish the final
contract at $18,020.55.
BUDGET IMPACT
The project cost summary for the 2005 Curb Ramp Installation - CDBG Project #1 is as

RESOLUTION NO. 343-05
ACCEPTING THE 2005 CURB RAMP INSTALLATION - COBG PROJECT #1
Whereas, the contract for the 2005 Curb Ramp Installation - CDBG Project #1
(the Project) has been completed and the City Manager has examined the work and
filed a certificate stating that the Project has been completed according to the terms of
the contract, plans and specifications and that the City Manager recommends that the
Project be accepted.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The recommendation of the City Manager is approved and the Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The City Treasurer is hereby directed to pay to the contractor from the
Fiscal Year 2005 Community Development Block Grant Funds appropriation for the
contract amount in the amount of $18,020.55 less any retained percentage provided for
therein as provided in Iowa Code chapter 573, and to pay such retainage only in
accordance with the provisions of Iowa Code chapter 573.

RESOLUTION NO. 344-05
FINAL ESTIMATE
Whereas, the construction contract for the 2005 Curb Ramp Installation -
CDBG Project #1 has been completed and the City Engineer has submitted his
final estimate showing the cost thereof including the cost of estimates, notices
and inspection and all miscellaneous costs.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to
be $20,723.63 and the said amount shall be paid from the allocation from the
Fiscal Year 2005 Community Development Block Grant Funds.
