PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Irish heritage of the Dubuque area is an important part of the
community's character and identity; and
WHEREAS, the Claddagh School of Irish Dance is one of many local
organizations that celebrate Dubuque's Irish heritage; and
WHEREAS, the Claddagh Irish Dancers will be representing the Dubuque area
during their tour of Ireland in June 2006; and
WHEREAS, an Irish Hooley is a traditional evening of music, song and dance that
for generations was the highlight of Irish social life; and
WHEREAS, the Claddagh Irish Dancers are hosting an Irish Hooley as a benefit
for their trip to Ireland from 11 A.M. to 10 P.M. at the Dubuque County
Fairgrounds on September 18, 2005 --- "HALFWAY TO ST.
PA TRICK'S DA Y!"
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
DUBUQUE, IOWA, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2005 AS:
"IRISH HOOLEY DA Y"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE
DUBUQUE AREA TO SUPPORT THIS BENEFIT FOR THE CLADDAGH IRISH
DANCERS TO REPRESENT THE DUBUQUE AREA DURING THEIR TOUR OF
IRELAND IN JUNE 2006.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Dubuque, Iowa to be affixed this 15th
day of August, 2005.
