Vehicle Damage
This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that as she was stopped in her vehicle at the
stop sign on Cherry Street at Asbury Road, her vehicle was struck from behind by a City of
Dubuque Health Department vehicle.
According to the report of Mary Rose Corrigan, Public Health Specialist, Health
Department records indicate that Animal Control Officer Susan Barnes was involved in the
incident which occurred on July 13, 2005, at approximately 11 :30 a.m. Ms. Barnes was at
the corner of Cherry Street and Asbury Road behind the claimant's vehicle, who began to
turn left onto Asbury Road. Ms. Barnes then looked both ways and proceeded after she
saw Ms. Weidenbacher pull forward. She then realized that she bumped into the bumper
of Ms. Weidenbacher's vehicle who did not proceed through the intersection. The Police
Department was called but charges were not filed.
It is therefore the recommendation of Ms. Corrigan to approve this claim for the amount of
the lower submitted estimate of $355.96. The Legal Department concurs with this
recommendation.

FROM:
SUBJECT: Approval recommendation for Molly Weidenbacher Claim
This letter will respond to the claim filed by Molly Weidenbacher on July 18, 2005.
Our records show that Susan Barnes, Animal Control Officer, was involved in the
incident which occurred on July 13,2005 at approximately 11:34 a.m., referenced by
claimant in her claim. Sue was at the corner of Cherry Street and Asbury Road behind
Ms. Weidenbacher, who turned left onto Asbury Road (towards University Avenue).
Sue then looked both ways after she saw Ms. Weidenbacher pull fOlWard and
proceeded. Sue then felt the bump and realized she had apparently bumped the
bumper of Ms. Weidenbacher who did not proceed through the intersection. The Police
Department was called, but did not file charges.
It is therefore my recommendation to approve this claim for the amount of the submitted
estimate of $355.96.
