Harold McMahon Communication - Rosedale Ave. 2154 Rosedale Avenue Dubuque, Iowa. 52001 - 4146 February 26, 1999 Dubuque City Council City Hall Dubuque, Iowa. Gentlemen : When Rosedale Avenue was originally named many years ago it was one continuous street extending from West Locust Street to Asbury Road. About 30 or 40 years ago Grandview Avenue was extended from Delhi Street northward and it intersected with Rosedale, and Rosedale then became "North Grandview Avenue" for a distance of about four blocks - to Avoca Street. Rosedale Avenue then resumed its identity from Avoca Street westward to Asbury Road. This four-block interruption of Rosadale Avenue causes considerable confusion for people looking for addresses on Rosedale. The Rosedale street numbers jump from 1612 at Audubon Street to 2005 at Avoea Street. I I would suggest that Rosedale from West Locust Street to Grandview be re-named "East Rosedale Avenue" and that Rosedale from Avoca Street to Asbury Road be re-named "West Rosedale Avenue". I realiae that none of the Rosedale residents would appreciate having either section of the street given an entirely different name, but I believie adding the words "East" and "West" would be agreeable to everyone - without changing or losing the identity of the "Rosedale" name. I believe this would be a simple solution to the problem without disturbing any of the residents. It is very confusing for people trying to find an address on Rosedale when they don't know there are two sectcions of Rosedale a quarter of a mile apart. Thank you for giving consideration to this proposal. '1\ '8n'onQnCJ , 'I. leI'" A\\8 aomo S" ," ,-~ SG :2 \~d \ - (3~;\ 5& 03i\\3838 Yours very truly, ~/" '!-d~ )lZ~ )71d~~ Harold McMahon
