Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program Reminder„sSMENTDFyO * fl (j ` * U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT :G 111111II *z WASHINGTON, DC 20410 -7000 4 9A4N DE`1F''D ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR COMMUNITY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT MAY 18 2012 The Honorable Roy Buol Mayor of Duuque 50 West 13th Street Dubuque, IA 52001 Re: Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re- Housing Program Grant Number: S09MY190005 Dear Mayor Buol: I am writing this letter to remind the City of Dubuque that it must expend 100 percent of its $502,294 Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re- Housing Program (HPRP) award by July 14, 2012 —the grant expiration date. It is critical that the City spend an average of $5,914 per month to meet this requirement. All unspent funds will be recaptured and returned to the U.S. Treasury. If the City intends to end its HPRP program before all funds are expended and drawn down from IDIS, please contact your HUD field office or Caroline Fernandez. The City may request technical assistance to resolve any challenges preventing it from meeting expenditure requirements by submitting a request via the HPRP Virtual Help Desk on HUD's Homelessness Resource Exchange, at www.hudhre.info/hprp. Should the City have questions regarding this letter or would like to discuss strategies to increase program spending, it may contact Caroline Fernandez at (202) 402 -6106 or Caroline.B.Fernandez@hud.gov. HUD appreciates the City of Dubuque's continued efforts to expend HPRP funds in an efficient and timely manner. Sincerely, Mercedes Marquez Assistant Secretary
