This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that during a storm which occurred on June
5, 2005, a City tree was blown onto claimant's house located at 1314 Atlantic Street.
Claimant alleges that while the tree was being removed, additional damage was caused to
the sidewalk.
According to the report of John Hail, Park Division Manager, four slabs of sidewalk were
damaged when the crane service removed the tree from claimant's house. According to
an estimate by the City Engineering Department, the average replacement cost of
sidewalk is $4.50 per square foot. This would total $288.00.
It is therefore the recommendation of John Hail to reimburse SECURA Insurance
Company $288.00 for the replacement of four sidewalk slabs. The Legal Department
concurs with this recommendation.

Regarding the claim by Secura Insurance Company on behalf of Yolanda Feldman-
Brauer, it is my recommendation that we pay for four slabs of sidewalk that were
damaged when the crane removed the tree.
City Engineering states that an average cost is $4.50 per square foot. Four slabs would
be 64 square feet, or $288.00.
