SUBJECT: Final Acceptance of the Westbrook Subdivision Water Main Extension and
Service Line Lateral Project
Water Department Manager Bob Green is recommending acceptance of the Westbrook
Subdivision Water Main Extension and Service Line Lateral Project, as completed by
Callahan Construction, Inc., in the final contract amount of $74,000.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

SUBJECT: Final Acceptance of the Westbrook Subdivision Water Main Extension
and Service Line Lateral Project
INTRODUCTION
This memorandum is recommending final acceptance of the Westbrook Subdivision
Water Main Extension and Service Line Lateral Project at a final cost of $74,000.
DISCUSSION
On April 19, 2004, the City of Dubuque Water Department entered into an agreement
with Callahan Construction, Inc. of Dubuque, Iowa for the installation of approximately
2,280 feet of 8 inch PVC-C-900-DR-14 water main and 48 water line laterals in the
Westbrook Subdivision.
ACTION REQUESTED
Staff and I are requesting your approval and recommendation to the City Council that
they adopt the two Resolutions, one approving the project and one approving the final
project cost of $74,000 and authorizing final payment to Callahan Construction, Inc. in
the amount of $3,700 in accordance with the State of Iowa Statutes.

RESOLUTION NO. 428 -05
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
Whereas, the Contract for the Westbrook Subdivision Water Main and
Service Line Lateral Improvement Project has been completed and the City's
consultant Buesing and Associates of Dubuque, Iowa recommend acceptance of
the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved
and that said improvement be accepted.

RESOLUTION NO. 429 -05
FINAL ESTIMATE
Whereas, the contract of the Westbrook Subdivision Water Main and
Service Line Lateral Improvement Project has been completed and the City has
submitted the final estimate showing the cost thereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be
$74,000.
Section 2. That the final payment $3,700 be paid to Callahan
Construction, Inc. in accordance with State Statutes from funds in the Water
Department's FY 04 CIP Budget.
Passed, approved and adopted this 19th of September, 2005.
