Dear Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council:
I would like to take this opportunity to express the University's gratitude for the assistance and
support the city has provided during the development of our campus. The improvements and
expansion of the campus has been almost constant for the past six years and the next six look to
be just as busy.
The University of Dubuque is continuing to grow in enrollment and in geographic size, which
reflects positively on the City of Dubuque. UD has been working very hard to keep pace with
this growth by adding new buildings, such as the construction of the Myers Teaching and
Administration Building, and the remodeling & expansion of older buildings, such as the
Goldthorp Science Hall.
During the construction of these buildings, we are requesting changes in the parking ordinances
on certain city streets to maintain a safe area for residents, pedestrians, drivers, and vehicles. UD
requests the following:
· Change the west side of Auburn Street from University A venue to Grace Street to No
Parking Anytime
· Keep the east side of Auburn Street from University A venue to first alley No Student
Parking, then change to No Parking Anytime from the alley to Grace Street
· Change the north side of Bennett Street from Algona Street to McCormick to No Parking
Anytime
These changes are adjacent to university property and the change in parking will impact mainly
residential students who have university parking lots allocated for them. The changes requested
will protect people, property, the City of Dubuque, and the University of Dubuque, by supporting
growth in a quality environment. Thank you for your time and consideration to the request.
Sincerely,
~7r~
