From: Diversity Training and Welcoming Committee
Subject: Appreciation
Our committee is responsible for implementing two of the decision packages that you
approved for the fiscal year 2006 budget. One of those projects involves planning
diversity training for all City staff. The second project involves implementing a plan to
send a more welcoming message to diverse newcomers in our community.
We would like to convey to each of you our appreciation of the Council's action at the
September 6 meeting to establish a sister city relationship with Greenwood, Mississippi
in light of the Katrina disaster. We feel this action is consistent with our efforts to
welcome and support people of all backgrounds, and should be commended. We also
would like to thank you for your support of the efforts of our committee.
