Dear Mayor and City Council:
The Dubuque County Conservation Society board of directors
directed I write this letter to you.
We believe the green space along Southern Avenue should be
preserved and not sold off as building lots. Many
citizens, including some of our members, have spent a lot
of time and effort planting trees and shrubs in the city.
We believe that the present green areas should be
maintained and also enhanced with plantings of trees,
shrubs, and flowers.
A second matter is Maus Park. We wanted to know if the
ci ty has plans to dredge the Maus park pond? This area
could provide fish habitat and a place where children,
elderly, and handicapped persons could fish without many
of the dangers inherent in the main river. If the pond is
dredged the Society would be willing to assist in the
development of the area just as we did about 40 years ago.
