Property Damage
This is a claim in which the claimant alleges that the floor drain at his residence of 1385
North Booth backed up due to a plugged city main.
According to the report of John Klostermann, Street & Sewer Maintenance Supervisor,
records indicate that the Public Works Department was first notified of a possible sewer
problem regarding the referenced main line at 4:15 p.m. on September 15, 2005. Crew
members discovered that the main line was plugged, and the line was cleaned and
service was restored.
Records also show that there is a history of problems with this main line, although the
Public Works Department has performed additional maintenance to the line which has
reduced the problems to a manageable level.
It is therefore the recommendation of John Klostermann to approve this claim for the
filed amount of $170.00, as the City does have prior knowledge of this defect. The
Legal Department concurs with this recommendation.
