WHEREAS, Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive, deteriorating neurological disease
characterized by a slow, but steady destruction of vital cells in the brain
and research indicates that Alzheimer's is the fourth leading cause of
death in people over the age of 65, affects 7-10% of older Iowans and 15%
of the people over 65 in Dubuque County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Dubuque has witnessed significant efforts to provide
specialized care for the victims of Alzheimer's Disease through the ~
services of Stonehill Care Center, Luther ManO! /@'dsunsetPark..Place;' 1.: -c~ 1

WHEREAS, the people of Dubuqueland have supported the Alzheimer's Association 's ~
Memory Walks in this City since their inception in 1996. There has been ".-f
heightened awareness ofthe Disease and of the Alzheimer's Association, //v .
thus enabling the Mississippi Valley Chapter and the Dubuque Branch II." ~
