Dear Mr. Engelken:
I apologize for the delay in getting this letter mailed. I contacted you earlier this year concerning your
willingness to serve as the Iowa League of Cities representative to the Property Assessment Appeal
Board Review Committee. Based on your experience and your indicated interest, the League
Executive Board approved your appointment to this committee at its meeting of April 26, 2012.
As you recall, Code of Iowa Section 421.1A provides for the establishment of a Property Assessment
Appeal Board Review Committee. The committee is required to submit a report recommending any
changes to the Property Assessment Appeal Board. A report is due the legislature January 15, 2013.
A copy of this letter is being provided to the Iowa Department of Revenue, the agency assigned to
staff this committee.
Thank you for your willingness to serve on this committee. When the League can be of any
assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Alan W. Kemp
