Mayor Terrence M. Duggan
City of Dubuque
50 W. 13th Street
Dubuque, Iowa, 52001
Dear Mayor Duggan,
The response to the needs of the victims of Hurricane Katrina by Dubuque has been
magnificent. The aid sent to those victims that was provided by donations of supplies and
money from Dubuque through the city of Greenwood is much appreciated by all of us.
I particularly want to commend Dan Nicholson for his prompt and effective efforts to
help us help others in Greenwood. Though the numbers have declined, we still have an
estimated several hundred evacuees in our community. Many of these are in family
residences and the aid received from the City and people of Dubuque is extremely
important in helping us properly furnish and equip these homes, and in providing for the
daily necessities of living.
We believe that you have built a permanent bridge between our communities through
your kindness and concern. We look forward to finding more pleasant opportunities to
work together, and invite you to visit us in Greenwood at any time.
I am enclosing a proclamation of appreciation and thanks to your City from ours and ask
that you share it with your City Council and citizens.
Again, thank you and the people of Dubuque and Iowa for your timely and important aid.
Sincerely,
HLS/la
