RE: 2003 International Building Code Adoption
Dear Senator Connolly:
I am writing to you to request your support of the adoption of the 2003
International Building Code, 2003 International Residential Code and other ICC
codes as recommended by the State of Iowa Building Code Bureau.
It is my understanding that an Administrative Rules Committee meeting to begin
the adoption process has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 11th at the State
Capitol Building. I am unable to attend this meeting, but your support for the
updating of the State Building Codes at this step, and future steps in the
legislative process is greatly appreciated.
The adoption of the 2003 International Building Code and related codes will allow
general contractors, architects, system designers and Building Code Bureau staff
members to use an up to date building code. This is especially advantageous to
companies and businesses that conduct business in multiple jurisdictions.
