SUBJECT: Purina Drive Weigh Scale House Building Project Acceptance
DATE: July 30, 2012
Public Works Director Don Vogt is recommending acceptance of the Purina Drive
Weigh Scale House Project, as completed by Stumpf Construction, in the final contract
amount of $127,605.08, which is 18.57% less than the original contract amount of
$156,698.80. The reduced cost of this project is due to changes in the installation of the
sanitary sewer serving the project site and changes made to the facility's metal grating.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Work has been completed on the project by Stumpf Construction of Dubuque, Iowa in the final contract amount of $127,605 0(
recommending that the City Council accept the improvements and the final contract price to be established at $127 505 08, wl

The City Council is requested to adopt the attached resolution accepting the improvements and establishing the final
construction cost
RESOLUTION NO. 205 -12
ACCEPTING THE PURINA DRIVE WEIGH SCALE HOUSE BUILDING PROJECT
AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE FINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE
CONTRACTOR
Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the Purina Drive Weigh Scale
House Building Project (the Project) has been completed and the City Engineer has
examined the work and filed a certificate stating that the project has been completed
according to the terms of the Public Improvement Contract and that the City Engineer
recommends that the Project be accepted.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. The recommendation of the City Engineer is approved and the Project
is hereby accepted.
Section 2. The Finance Director is hereby directed to pay the Contractor from the
General Fund appropriation for the final contract amount $127,605.08 less any retained
percentage provided for therein as provided in Iowa Code chapter 573, and to pay such
retainage only in accordance with the provisions of Iowa Code chapter 573.
