Spence, Leisure Services Manag~ SUBJECT: Downtown Gateway Landscaping The City of Dubuque has begun a process to do major landscaping at three gateways to the downtown area. As part of the recently completed downtown traffic study, the consultants developed streetscape guidelines and identified five gateways to the downtown area for landscaping improvements. The City Council has designated the following three gateways a top priority:' 1) Eastern Gateway Locust Street, from Dodge Street to Highway 6111 51 2) 11 th Street Gateway on and off ramps of Highway 61/151 linking 11 th Street, Elm Street and 12th Street 3) Waterfront Gateway 5th Street from Highway 611151 to the riverfront Steven Ulstad Architects and the Brian Gutheinz Studio have been retained as design consultants to develop the landscape design for all three gateways. These proposals will be presented to the City Council for review and comment at the June 7th work session. Estimated cost, with design fees and contingency, is $1,032.071. There is $1,055,000 budgeted for this project; $490,000 grant funds, $100,000 TIF, and $465,000 from general fund. If you have any questions, please give me a call.
