Five Flags HVAC Phase I Project
Leisure Services Manager Gil Spence is recommending acceptance of the Five Flags
HVAC Phase I Project, as completed by Geisler Brothers Company, in the final contract
amount of $502,816.56, which is $22,635.56 over the original contract amount due to
three change orders.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

Five Flags HVAC Phase I Project
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to recommend that the City Council accept the Five
Flags HVAC Phase I Project.
DISCUSSION
The Five Flags HVAC Phase I Project has been completed by Geisler Brothers
Company in the final contract amount of $502,816.56. A summary of the project costs
is as follows:

Change Order #1 provided for equipment and installation of graphical work station
including upgrades of existing Siemens Insight Apgoes Software from a 3.2 level to 3.6
level. Change Order #2 provided for additional work required in the administrative office
area resulting from the renovation project. Change order #3 replaced ductwork in the
chase at the far east unit mechanical room and for relocating the economizers on the
three large rooftop units.
The C.I.P. budget contains $854,311 for replacement of the HVAC system at Five
Flags. The following is a summary of the project costs:

ACTION STEP

RESOLUTION NO. 492-05
ACCEPTING IMPROVEMENT
WHEREAS, the contract for the Five Flags HVAC Phase I Project has been
completed and the City Manager has examined the work and filed his certificate stating that
the same has been completed according to the terms of the contract, plans and
specifications and recommends its acceptance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
1. That the recommendation of the City Manager be approved and that said
improvement be and the same is hereby accepted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Treasurer be and he is hereby directed
to pay to the contractor from the General Fund in amount equal to the amount of his
contract, less any retained percentage provided for therein.

RESOLUTION NO. 493-05
FINAL ESTIMATE
WHEREAS, the contract for the Five Flags HVAC Phase I Project has been
completed and the Engineer has submitted his final estimate showing the cost thereof
including the cost of estimates, notices and inspection and all miscellaneous costs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
Section 1. That the cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be
$502,816.56, and the said amount shall be paid from the General Fund of the City of
Dubuque, Iowa.
