New Business:
Two proposed amendments to the Code of Ordinances were presented to the board that
involved the make-up of the board. After much discussion and rewording, the following
amendments were approved and recommended they be sent to the City Council for
adoption.
Pfohl moved that Chapter 18 Section 18-2 Article 81-3(b) be amended to read as follows:
.
"(b) Membership. The electrical code board shall consist of five (5) standing members and
two alternate members appointed by the city council. Six (6) members shall have a
background or experience in electrical engineering, electrical contracting, electrical
installation or electrical maintenance, and one (1) member shall be appointed from the
public at large.
The alternates have the same duties and responsibilities as the standing board members
except for voting on matters before the full board. Alternate #1 would fill in as a voting only
if anyone standing board member were absent. Alternate #2 would fill in as a voting
member only if any two standing board members were absent."
Reiss seconded the motion and the vote was all in favor.
Hammel moved that Chapter 18, Section 18-2, Article 81-3(d)(5) be amended to read as
follows:
"(5) Meetings. The electrical code board shall meet on the 4th Monday of Jan., March,
May, July, Sept., and November, or upon call of the chairperson, secretary or city manager.
Members of the electrical code board shall attend at least two-thirds (2/3) of all scheduled
meetings within a twelve month period. If any member does not attend such prescribed
number of meetings, it shall constitute grounds for the board to recommend to the city
council that said member be replaced. These meetings can be cancelled by the secretary if
there were no business or actions pending. If the 4th Monday would fall on a holiday, that
meeting would be moved to the following work day."
Pfohl seconded and the vote was all in favor.
