ION
WHEREAS, Kiwanis International was founded in 1915 and the Dubuque Kiwanis
Club was founded in 1920; and
WHEREAS, since its inception, Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers
dedicated to "Changing the World One Child and One Community at
a Time "; and
WHEREAS, the men and women of the Dubuque Kiwanis Club have exhibited a
deep sense of pride in the Dubuque community by serving the needs
of family and children by donating thousands of service hours and
over $20,000 each year to Dubuque -area charitable organizations and
sponsored youth initiatives including Hoover K -Kids and Dubuque
Senior and Hempstead Key Clubs; and
WHEREAS, for over the past 50 years the Kiwanis Peanut Days fund raising
effort has assisted in funding hundreds of charitable projects. The
2012 Kiwanis Peanut Days will be held September 28 -29 at all
Dubuque Hy -Vee and Fareway locations.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM SEPTEMBER 28 -29, 2012 AS
"KIWANIS PEANUT DAYS"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF THE
DUBUQUE AREA TO SUPPORT THIS EVENT.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the
City of Dubuque to be affixed this 17th day of
September, 2012.
