WHEREAS, every citizen of Dubuque enjoys the rights of Life, Liberty, and the
Pursuit of Happiness, which is stated in our Declaration of
Independence, Constitution, and the Bill of Rights; and
WHEREAS, our rights and freedoms are being protected by the brave men and
women of the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, the Veterans of Dubuque and our nation have served and bled for
our freedom in such places as the Western Pacific, Normandy,
Inchon, Phuoc Long, and now in places such as Mosul, Kandahar
and the Arabian Gulf; and
WHEREAS, IowaWorks in the city of Dubuque, Iowa and the Dubuque Fighting
Saints, have selected the month of November, 2012, for the display
of patriotism to our veterans and the sacrifices they have made.
NOW THEREFORE, 1, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2012, AS
"VETERANS APPRECIATION MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, IN CELEBRATION OF OUR VETERANS AND
THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS THEY PROTECT.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
hereunto set my hand and caused the
Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to
be affixed this 15th day of October,
