This is a claim in which the claimants allege that the sewer line in front of their rental
property located at 2594 Pearl Street was blocked causing water to back up into the
basement on November 20, 2005.
According to the report of Street & Sewer Maintenance Supervisor John Klostermann,
records indicate that the Public Works Department was notified of a possible sewer
problem at 9:30 p.m. on November 20, 2005. Crew responded and found that the main
line was plugged. The line was cleaned and service was restored in a timely manner.
Records also indicate that there has not been a history of problems regarding this sewer
line. It is therefore the recommendation of John Klostermann to deny this claim due to the
lack of prior knowledge of this problem. The Legal Department concurs with this
recommendation.
