Through the informal bid process for public improvements, the 2012 CDBG Access
Ramp Installation Project was awarded on May 11, 2012, to D & D Superior Concrete in
the amount of $24,750.65 for 11 ramps. Due to the favorable bid prices, an additional
16 ramps were added to the project, bringing the total construction cost to $41,307.38,
plus $2,065.37 for engineering.
City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends that the award and completion of the 2012
CDBG Access Ramp Installation Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City
Council.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

The purpose of this memorandum is to officially record in the minutes of the City Council
the award and completion of the 2012 CDBG Access Ramp Installation Project.
BACKGROUND
The 2012 CDBG Access Ramp Installation Project provided for the replacement of 27
access ramps at various locations throughout the City.
DISCUSSION
On May 11, 2012 the City of Dubuque received informal bids for the 2012 CDBG
Access Ramp Installation Project in the amounts of:

Based on Iowa Code § 384.103 and § 364.12(3)(c), and Iowa Code, Section 26.14,
through the informal bid process for public improvements, this project was awarded on
May 11, 2012 D & D Superior Concrete of Dubuque, IA, in the amount of $24,750.65.
Originally eleven ramps were to be constructed; due to favorable bid prices and
approval from Aggie Tauke, Community Development Specialist, an additional sixteen
ramps were added to the project bringing the total construction cost to $41,307.38 plus
$2,065.37 for engineering. Funds for this project are from CIP #2601236
