Main Street By-laws
Jeanne,
Here is the copy of the section in our bylaws referring to City positions:
"Section 2: Number. Tenure: The number of Directors shall be not less than nine (9) and not
more than twenty-one (21), with at least one Director from each active District. The active Directors
presently serving shall continue to serve until expiration of the terms of office for which they,
respectively, have been elected. Their successors shall be elected at the annual meeting for which
provision is hereinafter made, based on a slate formulated by the nomination committee and approved
by the board of directors.
One director shall be appointed by the City Council and one shall be appointed by the City
Manager or the City of Dubuque, Iowa. The remaining directors shall be elected at the annual meeting,
such election being for a three-year term of office (pro-rated in the first election to insure that each year
1/3 of the Directors are up for election), and the newly elected Directors shall take office at the
conclusion of the annual meeting provided, however, that in each case Directors shall continue to serve
until their successors shall be elected and shall qualify. The nominations shall be made at least ten days
prior to the annual meeting."
We meet at 8 a.m. on the 4th Wednesday of every month, except September when our annual meeting is
usually in the evening of the 4th Tues., Weds., or Thurs, and we also only have one meeting for Nov.lDec. It is the
first Weds. of December. (This helps us avoid conflicts with Thanksgiving & Christmas.
If you need any more info, let me know.
Thanks,
-Dan
