On behalf of the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce's 1 ,ODO-plus Members, I am writing regarding the River
Pointe Condominium Project.
We applaud you and the City Council for your informed discussion of this land use matter. The Dubuque Area
Chamber of Commerce is a strong supporter of private property rights, less government intrusion, and
economic development across the tri-state region. We support 'smart growth' in Dubuque, and encourage you
to promote residential and commercial development that effectively and efficiently utilizes existing land
resources. We believe that the River Pointe Project captures this spirit, and encourage you to allow it to move
forward.
This project will inject millions of dollars of private capital into Dubuque's economy. We believe that this
investment will lead to untold opportunities for additional growth and development in Dubuque, not to
mention increased tax receipts for the City.
As you and the City Council consider the question of how our City should grow in the future, we encourage you
to make land use decisions that maximize our City's economic potential and are base on a well articulated
comprehensive plan.
Lastly and perhaps most importantly, moving forward with this project can send a message to private investors
and developers in the tri-states and beyond that Dubuque is a community that is open for business.
