SUBJECT: Iowa APA Award for Historic Millwork District Complete Streets Project
DATE: December 7, 2012
Dubuque's Historic Millwork District Complete Streets Project was recognized in the
Implementation category by the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association
(APA) at the annual statewide planning conference in November 2012.
The awards jury was particularly impressed with the outcome of the project and the
amount of work already completed.
The APA -Iowa Chapter provides leadership in the development of vital communities by
advocating excellence in community planning, promoting education and citizen
empowerment, and providing the tools and support necessary to meet the challenges of
growth and change. APA -Iowa members consist of planners and other professionals
involved in the development and sustainability of Iowa communities.
Planning Services Manager Laura Carstens advises that this award will be presented to
the City Council at their December 17, 2012 meeting.
