Appointment of Assistant City Attorney
As you know, City Solicitor Bill Blum will be retiring in April of this year after 32 years of
service in the City Legal Department.
Last year, the Mayor and City Council approved a full-time Assistant City Attorney
position to replace Bill's part-time position.
I am very pleased to advise you that I have made a tentative appointment to fill the
Assistant City Attorney position to Crenna Brumwell, subject to your formal approval.
Crenna is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and the University Of Iowa
College Of Law. She was an intern in the Legal Department in the summer of 2002.
Crenna was employed at Cottingham and Butler as a claims representative. Her
husband is employed by FedEx Ground here in Dubuque. They have been living in
Dubuque since Crenna graduated from law school in 2003. A copy of Crenna's resume
is enclosed.
I respectfully request Mayor and City Council approval of my appointment of Crenna
Brumwell as Assistant City Attorney effective March 20, 2006.

APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF CRENNA M. BRUMWELL AS ASSISTANT
CITY ATTORNEY FOR THE CITY OF DUBUQUE
Whereas, City Solicitor William G. Blum has announced his retirement
effective April 14, 2006 after honorably serving as legal counsel for the City of
Dubuque for thirty-two years; and
Whereas, City Attorney Barry A. Lindahl has recommended that his
appointment of Crenna M. Brumwell as Assistant City Attorney be approved by
the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DUBUQUE, IOWA:
The appointment of Crenna M. Brumwell as Assistant City Attorney for the
City of Dubuque effective March 20, 2006 is hereby approved.
