Through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, the Washington
Street Parking Lot Project was awarded on November 16, 2012, to McDermott
Excavating, in the amount of $38,714.09, which was 12.1% below the engineer's
estimate of $44,000.
City Engineer Gus Psihoyos recommends that the award for the Washington Street
Parking Lot Project be officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
I concur with the recommendation and respectfully request Mayor and City Council
approval.

The Washington Street Parking Lot between 17th and 18th Streets Project provides for
the installation of permeable interlocking paver surfacing for the City Parking Lot. The
project will complete the parking lot for the Washington Row Houses.

Through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, this project was
awarded on November 16, 2012 to McDermott Excavating of Dubuque, Iowa, in the
amount of $38,714.09. This is 12.1 % below the engineer's estimate of $44,000.
In accordance with the competitive quotation requirements of Iowa Code, Section 26.14,
it is necessary that the award for the Washington Street Parking Lot Project to be
officially recorded in the minutes of the City Council.
